Jeremy Hawker
Our Conductor
Jeremy is a passionate guitarist/composer/teacher and researcher. Jeremy began his musical journey by graduating from James Cook University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music majoring in classical guitar. Jeremy completed a Master of Teaching at the University of Western Australia in 2014 and a Master of Music Studies at Griffith Univeristy in 2020 majoring in Jazz guitar. Jeremy has also completed an A.Mus and L.mus with the Australian Guild of Music where obtained the Louis Kowald memorial medal. Jeremy is a current researcher at Griffith's HDR unit, his research area is compositional methods pertaining to multi-tonic harmony in Jazz composition and improvisation. In his spare time he enjoys cooking and learning Korean.
